ERA Melkbosstrand

Melkbosstrand, a coastal seaside village, is only 20 minutes from the centre of Cape Town and the Waterfront. Melkbos got its name from the milkwood trees, which once lined the beach. A friendly village atmosphere exists here and the area still boasts with the lowest crime rate in the Cape.

Residents enjoy long walks along the pristine beach enjoying the ocean air and the lingering sunsets. Melkbos, like Blouberg to the south, also has spectacular views of Table Mountain, the sea and Robben Island. It is also home to an internationally accredited Golf Estate and a private nature reserve with exclusive sea view properties.

Grotto Bay, a Private Nature Reserve is 30 kilometres from Melkbos with only 220 properties, all with sea and Table Mountain views. Yzerfontein is famous for its 16-mile long beach, beautiful views of Table Mountain and Dassen Island. Whales calve in the bay during April till October. Darling is a warm, vibrant place - a harmonious blend of old and new. Travellers throughout the area are overwhelmed by the rich tapestry of flowers which cover the fields in spring. The harmony of the village and its rural atmosphere appeals to the many creative souls who have established themselves in Darling.
